Service Overview

## What This Work InvolvesAnd Who It Is For
When the stairs can no longer be managed and a lift is not the answer, the solution is usually to bring sleeping and washing downstairs. Done properly, that is not a bed pushed into the front room, it is a proper bedroom with storage, privacy, heating and a route to a toilet.

We convert existing rooms, reconfigure the ground floor, and where there is genuinely not enough space, build an extension to create a bedroom, a wet room or both. The point is that the person keeps a room of their own rather than living in the middle of the household.

Where transfers need equipment, we take care of the structural side: ceiling tracks fixed into sound structure, reinforced ceilings or gantry supports, clear runs between bed, chair and bathroom, and the power and finishes that go with them.

Living space matters just as much. Turning space beside a chair, reachable sockets and switches, accessible storage and flooring that a wheelchair rolls across easily are what make a room usable all day, not just at night.

### Who It's For

- Households where the stairs are no longer realistic and the only bathroom is upstairs
- People who need hoisted transfers between bed, chair and bathroom
- Families told the alternative is a care home or assisted living
- Anyone currently sleeping in a living room with no privacy or storage
- Carers who need space to work safely around a bedBook a Free Assessment

How We Support You

## The Care We PutInto Every Detail

### A proper room, not a corner
Sleeping space is planned with storage, privacy and heating so it feels like a bedroom rather than a temporary arrangement.

### Everything on one level
Bed, bathroom and living space connected by a step-free route that works day and night.

### Safe transfers
Hoist tracks and supports fixed into real structure, with clear runs between the bed, the chair and the bathroom.

### Space for carers
Clearances around the bed planned so help can be given safely and comfortably.

Our Process

## How We Take ThisFrom Call To Completion

01
### Assessment visit
We look at the ground floor, the daily routine, transfers and where a bedroom could realistically sit.

### Structure and shell
Openings, walls, floors and, on extensions, foundations and the weathertight shell.

05
### Services and hoists
Heating, power at reachable heights, lighting, and structural support for ceiling or gantry hoists.

06
### Finishing and handover
Flooring, joinery, storage, decoration, then a walk-through of every transfer and route.

### Room to change
Structure and services allowed for so the next adaptation is straightforward.

In Detail

## Materials, MethodsAnd The Situations They Suit

### Creating a ground-floor bedroom
The first option is always reconfiguration: a dining room, study or under-used reception room becomes a bedroom, with a wet room formed nearby and the circulation between them opened up. It is faster, cheaper and less disruptive than building.

Where the ground floor genuinely has no room to give, an extension creates the space. That means foundations, drainage, a weathertight shell, insulation, heating and the internal fit-out, and we handle the whole sequence.

Either way, the bedroom is planned with the bathroom route in mind. A bedroom without a reachable toilet solves half a problem, and that half tends to be the daytime half.

### Hoists, storage and living space
Ceiling track hoists need structure above them. We check the joists, add noggins or steels where required, and where the ceiling cannot take it, plan a freestanding gantry with a base that suits the floor.

Storage is set out around reach: hanging rails brought down, drawers instead of high shelves, and space left clear where a chair has to turn in front of a wardrobe.

In living rooms, the changes are usually small and effective. Sockets raised, switches lowered, a level floor finish run through, door thresholds removed and lighting improved where people move at night.
