Service Overview

## What This Work InvolvesAnd Who It Is For
Cooking is one of the first things people give up, and it is rarely because they have lost the skill. It is the worktop that is too high to work at seated, the oven at floor level, the cupboard that needs a stretch and the pan that has to be carried across the room.

An adapted kitchen fixes the geometry. Worktop heights are set for standing or seated use, knee clearance is created under the sink and hob, appliances are raised and repositioned so nothing hot travels far, and storage is brought into the band a person can actually reach.

The work behind that is real: plumbing and waste moved, electrical circuits altered and sockets brought forward to the front edge of the run, units modified or replaced, and floors levelled so a chair can sit close to the work surface.

We plan it with the person who cooks, following the route they take from fridge to sink to hob, then build it. Every kitchen starts with a free visit to the property.

### Who It's For

- Wheelchair users who need to work at a lowered surface with knee clearance
- People who cook seated on a perching stool
- Anyone who can no longer lift a pan or a tray safely
- Households where reach and grip have become the limiting factor
- Families adapting a kitchen for shared use by two people with different needsBook a Free Assessment

How We Support You

## The Care We PutInto Every Detail

### Cooking independently again
Heights and reaches set correctly mean meals stop being something that has to be done for someone.

### Nothing hot carried far
Hob, sink and landing space are grouped so pans slide across a surface instead of being lifted across a room.

### Storage you can reach
Pull-out and drawer storage in the reachable band replaces deep, low cupboards nobody can get into.

### Shared kitchens work too
Where two people with different needs share a kitchen, we plan the heights so it suits both.

Our Process

## How We Take ThisFrom Call To Completion

01
### Assessment visit
We watch how the kitchen is used, measure reach, seated height and turning space, and note what gets avoided.

02
### Layout and written estimate
A plan of the new run, heights, appliance positions, storage and services, with the cost set out.

03
### Strip out and services
Old units removed, plumbing, waste and electrics altered for the new positions.

04
### Units and worktops
Carcasses set at the agreed heights, knee clearance formed, worktops cut and fitted.

05
### Appliances and finishing
Appliances installed at reachable heights, splashbacks, flooring and decoration completed.

06
### Trial and adjustment
We run through making a drink and a meal with you and adjust heights or handles that are not right.

Benefits

## What You GetOnce The Work Is Done

### Correct working height
Surfaces set for the way this person works, seated or standing.

### Knee clearance
Open space under sink and hob so a chair can pull right in.

### Reachable controls
Front-mounted controls and sockets at the edge of the run instead of against the wall.

### Lever taps
Single-lever or cross-head taps that can be worked without grip or twist.

### Safer surfaces
Contrasting edges and matt finishes that help with low vision and reduce glare.

### Room to move
Turning space kept clear between runs rather than filled with an island.

In Detail

## Materials, MethodsAnd The Situations They Suit

### Heights, clearance and layout
Seated working height is not one number. It depends on the chair, the person's reach and whether they work sideways or head-on, so we take those measurements at the assessment and set the run to them.

Knee clearance under the sink and hob is what turns a lowered worktop into a usable one. That means a shallow bowl, insulated or boxed pipework and no cupboard carcass in the way.

The layout follows the working sequence: cold store, preparation, wash, cook, serve. Keeping those steps adjacent means hot and heavy items slide along a continuous surface instead of being carried.

### Storage, appliances and controls
Deep base cupboards are replaced with drawers and pull-out baskets so the contents come out to the person. Wall units, where they are kept at all, come down into the reachable band or get a pull-down mechanism.

Ovens are raised to a height where a tray can be slid out onto a heatproof surface beside them rather than lifted from floor level. Hobs with front or side controls remove the reach across hot rings.

Sockets are brought to the front edge of the worktop, and lever taps, easy-grip handles and contrasting trims complete a kitchen that can be used without strength in the hands.
