Service Overview

## What This Work InvolvesAnd Who It Is For
Some homes cannot be adapted with fittings. When the ground floor has no room for a bedroom, when the only bathroom is upstairs and a lift is not viable, or when walls stand exactly where a wheelchair needs to turn, the answer is building work.

We design and build accessible extensions, remove and alter structural walls, convert garages, dining rooms and box rooms, and form downstairs bathrooms and bedrooms. It is ordinary construction carried out with an unusual amount of attention to widths, levels, turning circles and reach.

That means proper foundations and drainage, calculated lintels and steels with correct bearings, floor levels that match through the whole ground floor, and services planned around heights someone can reach from a seated position.

Over 30 years of building experience sits behind this work, and it matters most exactly here, where a wall is load-bearing, a drain has to be re-routed, or a floor has to be lowered to remove a step.

### Who It's For

- Families told the only remaining option is a care home or assisted living
- Households with no downstairs toilet or bathroom and no way of getting upstairs
- Wheelchair users in houses with narrow halls and no turning space
- Owners adapting a property before a move or a hospital discharge
- Anyone who has been told their adaptation is 'not possible' without seeing the structure checkedBook a Free Assessment

How We Support You

## The Care We PutInto Every Detail

### Space where there was none
Extensions and conversions create the bedroom, bathroom or turning space a fitted solution cannot.

### Structure done correctly
Calculated lintels, proper bearings, correct foundations and drainage, not improvised openings.

### One team, one programme
Structure, services and finishes carried out by our own team so nothing falls between contractors.

### Designed around the person
Widths, levels, turning circles and reach heights set to the individual from the first drawing.

Our Process

## How We Take ThisFrom Call To Completion

01
### Assessment and survey
We look at the structure, drainage, levels and the daily routine, and discuss what the household actually needs.

02
### Scheme and written estimate
A defined scope, sequence and cost, with the structural implications explained in plain terms.

03
### Consents
Where planning permission or building control approval is needed, we set out what is required before work starts.

04
### Groundworks and structure
Foundations, drainage, openings, steels and floors, with temporary support in place before anything is removed.

05
### Services and fit-out
First-fix plumbing and electrics at accessible positions, insulation, plastering and joinery.

06
### Finishing and handover
Flooring, decoration, fittings and rails, then a walk-through of every route and transfer.

Benefits

## What You GetOnce The Work Is Done

### Staying at home
The property stops being the reason someone has to leave it.

### Real turning space
Rooms and corridors sized for the chair rather than the chair squeezed into the rooms.

### Level throughout
Ground floor levels matched so there are no steps between old and new.

### Services in reach
Sockets, switches and controls set at heights that work seated.

### Built to last
Insulation, weathering and structure done to a standard that suits a permanent home.

### Allowance for the future
Reinforcement and service routes built in for adaptations that may come later.

In Detail

## Materials, MethodsAnd The Situations They Suit

### Extensions and conversions
Accessible extensions are usually single-storey and built to create a bedroom, a wet room, or both, connected to the existing house at a matched floor level so nothing steps up or down at the join.

Garage conversions are frequently the fastest route to a downstairs bedroom or bathroom: the structure and roof exist, and the work is floors, insulation, drainage, services and finishes.

Internal conversions take the space that is already there, a dining room, a study, part of an over-large hallway, and turn it into what the household actually needs now.

### Structural alterations and downstairs facilities
Removing or altering a load-bearing wall is a calculation before it is a job. Lintels and beams are sized with proper bearings and padstones, temporary support goes in first, and the opening is finished so it looks intended.

Forming a downstairs bathroom means drainage before anything else: where the run goes, what fall it needs, and whether a pumped solution is required. That is settled at survey, not discovered halfway through.

Floors are levelled and thresholds removed so the whole ground floor becomes one surface, and doorways on the route are set out for the turning space they need on both sides.
