Service Overview

## What This Work InvolvesAnd Who It Is For
Not every problem needs building work. A rail beside the toilet, a half-step at the back door, a lever tap that can be worked with a wrist rather than a grip, these are small, inexpensive changes that quietly keep people independent.

We are happy to carry out small jobs, and we fit them to the same standard as the larger work. That means rails fixed into structure, steps built level and slip-resistant, and thresholds detailed so they keep the weather out as well as letting a frame or a wheel across.

Minor work is also the sensible place to start when you are not sure what is needed. It gives immediate relief at the points that hurt most, and it tells you a great deal about what else, if anything, needs doing later.

Most minor adaptation visits are completed in a day, and we can usually arrange an assessment quickly when someone is coming home from hospital.

How We Support You

## The Care We PutInto Every Detail

### Quick to arrange
Small jobs usually take a single visit, which matters when someone is due home from hospital.

### Fitted to hold
The same fixing standards as our building work: structure, pattressing and resin anchors, not plasterboard plugs.

### Low cost, high effect
A rail, a step or a tap often removes the single thing that was making a day difficult.

### A sensible first step
Starting small tells you what else is worth doing, without committing to anything large.

Our Process

## How We Take ThisFrom Call To Completion

01
### Quick assessment
We look at the specific problem and check the surrounding structure and surfaces.

02
### Clear price
A short written estimate for exactly what is being fitted.

03
### Fitting visit
Usually a single visit, with floors and furniture protected while we work.

04
### Reinforcement where needed
Where a wall will not take a fixing, we open up, pattress and make good.

05
### Making good
Plaster, tiling and decoration repaired around the work.

06
### Check with the user
We have the person try each item and adjust heights and positions on the spot.

Benefits

## What You GetOnce The Work Is Done

### Quick to arrange
Small works are straightforward to plan and usually completed in a single visit.

### Heights set to you
Positions taken from the person's reach, not a standard dimension.

### Discreet finishes
Rails and fittings in finishes that suit the room they are in.

### No trip edges
Half-steps and thresholds detailed so they help rather than catch a toe.

### Easy taps
Lever and quarter-turn taps that work without grip strength.

### Nothing wasted
If a small fix will do, we will tell you, rather than quoting for more.

In Detail

## Materials, MethodsAnd The Situations They Suit

### Rails, taps and small fittings
Grab rails go where the weight goes: beside the toilet, at the shower entry, by the bath, at the top and bottom of the stairs and at both sides of an external door. Height and angle are set from the person's reach, not a standard.

Handrails on stairs and in corridors give continuous support, and continuing them past the last step is what prevents the stumble at the change of level.

Lever taps, quarter-turn valves, easy-grip handles and rocker switches replace fittings that demand a firm grip or a twist, and they are cheap to change while someone is already on site.

### Half-steps, thresholds and small ramps
A half-step breaks a single high step into two manageable ones, built level, slip-resistant and wide enough to stand on with both feet, with a rail alongside where required.

Thresholds between rooms and at external doors are removed, ramped or replaced with a low-profile weather-sealed section so a frame or a wheel crosses without a jolt.

Small ramps handle a modest rise at a door or a patio, laid to a usable gradient with a slip-resistant surface and a level landing where the door has to be opened.
