Service Overview

## What This Work InvolvesAnd Who It Is For
Most falls at home happen in a handful of predictable places: getting out of the bath or shower, turning at the top or bottom of the stairs, standing up from a low chair or toilet, and moving around at night. Safety work targets those moments rather than filling the house with equipment.

We fit grab rails and handrails where the load actually goes, improve lighting where people move in the dark, remove trip hazards, fit key safes so help can get in without breaking a door, and install alarms and pull cords where reassurance is needed.

How things are fixed matters more than what is fitted. A rail screwed into plasterboard gives someone confidence right up until the moment they put their weight on it. We fix into timber, masonry, resin anchors or pattressing installed behind the finish.

This is often the quickest and least disruptive work we do, and for many households it is the change that allows someone to carry on at home for years.

How We Support You

## The Care We PutInto Every Detail

### Confidence where it drops
Support at the exact points where balance is lost: the transfer, the turn and standing up.

### Fixings that take weight
Rails into sound structure with pattressing added where needed, never into plasterboard alone.

### Light where falls happen
Lighting improved on stairs, landings and the night-time route to the bathroom.

### Help can get in
Key safes and alarms arranged so an emergency does not become a locked door.

Our Process

## How We Take ThisFrom Call To Completion

01
### Walk-through of the home
We follow the daily routine with you and identify the places where balance is lost or effort is highest.

02
### Short written estimate
A clear list of what is being fitted, where, and what it costs, with no filler.

03
### Preparation
Where a wall needs reinforcement, we open, pattress and make good rather than settle for a weaker fixing.

04
### Fitting
Rails, lighting, cords, alarms and key safes installed at heights set to the person using them.

05
### Making good
Any disturbed plaster, tiling or decoration repaired.

06
### Demonstration
We go through every item with the household so nothing is left unused because nobody explained it.

In Detail

## Materials, MethodsAnd The Situations They Suit

### Rails, fixings and fall prevention
Rails are positioned where the weight goes: beside the toilet on the transfer side, at the shower entry and inside it, at the top and bottom of the stairs, and at the front and back doors where the step changes.

Fixing method is chosen for what is behind the surface. Timber studs and noggins take screws; masonry takes resin anchors; plasterboard alone takes nothing, so we install plywood pattressing before boarding or open up and reinforce.

Beyond rails, fall prevention means removing the small things that catch a foot: carpet bars, trailing leads, loose mats, and thresholds between rooms. Contrast on step edges helps more than most people expect, especially with failing eyesight.

### Lighting, key safes and alarms
Lighting is improved where movement happens in the dark: the stairs, the landing and the route to the bathroom. Two-way switching, motion sensors and a light that comes on at a low level at night all reduce risk without disturbing sleep.

Key safes let family, carers and emergency services in without damaging the door. We fit them into masonry, in a sensible position, rather than screwing them to a timber frame.

Pull cords, door entry and alarm points are fitted where they can be reached from the floor as well as standing, because a cord that can only be reached upright is little use after a fall.
