Service Overview

## What This Work InvolvesAnd Who It Is For
When the stairs become the barrier, half the house goes out of use. Bedrooms, bathrooms and familiar rooms are suddenly upstairs and unreachable, and families start talking about moving. Getting the stairs working again is very often the change that settles that conversation.

We handle the building side of stairlifts, through-floor lifts and platform lifts: checking the structure, forming and trimming openings, strengthening joists, running power to the right point, and finishing the floors, walls and ceilings around the installation so it looks intended rather than cut in.

Where a lift is not the answer, the fix is often simpler. A second handrail, a rail that continues past the top and bottom steps, better lighting on the flight and a clear contrast on the nosings will keep a lot of people going up and down safely for years.

Every job begins with a free visit to look at the flight, the landing, the head height and the floor structure, because those four things decide what is actually possible.

### Who It's For

- People who can still manage upstairs but no longer feel safe doing it
- Wheelchair users who need to reach an upper floor without transferring
- Households where the only bathroom is upstairs

How We Support You

## The Care We PutInto Every Detail

### The whole house back in use
Bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs become reachable again, so nobody has to live in one room downstairs.

### Structure checked first
Joists, head heights and openings are surveyed before anything is ordered, so there are no surprises mid-installation.

### Finished, not just fitted
Floors, ceilings and decoration are made good around the lift so the installation looks planned.

### Simple options considered too
Where a second handrail and better lighting would do the job, we will tell you that rather than sell you a lift.

Our Process

## How We Take ThisFrom Call To Completion

01
### Survey of the flight
We measure the staircase, landing, head height and floor structure, and look at where a lift could realistically land.

02
### Options and written estimate
You see the practical choices, what each involves structurally, and what the building works cost.

03
### Structural preparation
Openings formed, joists trimmed and supported, and power run to the correct point.

04
### Installation works
We carry out the building and fixing works around the equipment installation.

05
### Making good
Floors, ceilings, walls and decoration finished around the new opening or rail.

06
### Walk-through
We check the route with the household, including where a wheelchair or walking frame waits at each end.

Benefits

## What You GetOnce The Work Is Done

### Both floors available
No moving a bed into the front room and no giving up the upstairs bathroom.

### Right equipment, right place
Position chosen for the transfer at each end, not just where it fits.

### Solid fixings
Rails and tracks fixed into sound structure, with strengthening added where needed.

### Clean finish
Trimmed openings, matched flooring and neat decoration around the installation.

### Lighting and contrast
Better light on the flight and contrast on the nosings, which prevents more falls than most people expect.

### Planned for later
Where needs will increase, we allow for the next step while the floor is already open.

In Detail

## Materials, MethodsAnd The Situations They Suit

### Stairlifts and handrails
A stairlift suits someone who can transfer on and off a seat and needs the climb taken out of the journey. The building considerations are the width of the flight once the track is in, a safe parking position at the top and bottom, and whether a walking frame or chair can be left waiting at each end.

Handrails are the quietest and most effective change on this list. A rail to both sides gives two points of contact, and continuing the rail past the first and last step is what stops the stumble that happens at the change of level.

We fix rails into the strings, studs or masonry behind the plaster, at a height set to the person using them, with a section profile that can actually be gripped.

### Through-floor and platform lifts
A through-floor lift carries a person, or a person in a wheelchair, between floors through an opening formed in the structure. It needs a viable position on both levels, adequate head height, joists that can be trimmed and supported, and a sensible landing area at each end.

A platform lift is the answer where the change of level is smaller, an external half-flight or a split-level landing, and we take care of the base, the structure and the surrounding works.

In every case we survey the structure before any commitment is made, form the opening with proper support, run the electrical supply, and finish the floors and ceilings around it so it reads as part of the house.
